Evelyn is currently a student at the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology here in New York City, and she will be joining the team at our Fifth Avenue store on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We firmly believe that supporting institutions such as FIT is one of the best ways to ensure that we continue having the most knowledgeable and expert staff in the business as we continue the high standards of New York's oldest hat shop.

First Snow-Fall in NYC November 2023

Winter is on its way, as we welcome the first snow-fall in the approach to winter here in NYC. Grab a new hat, and keep warm this season.

As a New York hat company, we are privileged to have the Metropolitan Opera as customers of ours.

If you are in town, please visit The Metropolitan Opera at Broadway and Lincoln Square. The performances are unforgettable, and make memories of a lifetime.

Recently, we are also honored to have our hats on stage on Broadway, used in the musicals "Girl From The North Country" and "MJ: The Musical", as well as on the sets of recent film/TV productions "Bupkis", "Dutchman" and "The Marvelous Mrs Maisel".

As of Sunday, November 26th, our Fifth Avenue store will be open from 12pm - 6pm. We look forward to welcoming you though our doors.

Get the traditional JJ Hat Center experience on Sundays (Open from 12-6pm)

Occasionally, JJ Hat Center is very busy. No surprise, mostly on Fridays and Saturdays.

In case you have to wait a moment, there are two club chairs near the entrance.
In addition, there is now a bench towards the back of the store, on the right.
It is a bit calmer there.

Of the traditional shopping days, Friday to Sunday, the Sunday seems a bit calmer now.

For extended consultations with our most knowledgeable, and experienced associates with undivided attention, we are working on a "make an appointment" system.

Welcoming Sam on Sundays - November 2023

Today, Sunday, November 12th, our summer intern 2023, Sam, a 4th generation hat lover, starts as a paid intern on Sundays.

Tip of the hat, Sam, for starting early in life.

One of the current owners started his career as a University intern at the 1st Stetson store.
